Dolphin

Dolphin is an emulator and debugger for the Nintendo GameCube and the Nintendo Wii.
It allows you to enjoy games from these two consoles on modern hardware with several enhancements, including:

  • Compatibility with most PC controllers (including the Nintendo Pro Controller and the Joycons)
  • Widescreen (and in some cases where the Switch can handle it, higher resolutions)
  • Online Multiplayer

For this script, we automatically build the most recent release following Dolphin's manual build guide found here. We then attempt to automatically import settings that we believe are optimal for as many games as possible. Bear in mind the Switch isn't powerful enough to run the entire library of the GameCube or the Wii, but it can handle a decent amount of them at fullspeed!

We also have the script import controller configs, but if you don't like our setup you should map your controller manually (make sure you don't overwrite our controller profiles and save your own, since these will get overwritten if you re-run the Dolphin script to update!)

The optimal config file should automatically install with the script, but in case you need to manually configure it or you're just curious, you can check our configs for a reference by opening the /assets/Dolphin/ or /assets/Dolphin-Config/ folders in this repository.
When setting up your own controls with your Wii games, checking out this list may help - it's much easier to map controls to a Classic Controller or Gamecube controller whenever a Wii game supports them.

Always remember to legally dump your game rom using apps like CleanRip. PIRACY IS NOT SUPPORTED HERE.
