Advanced Mode

Samuel Cochran edited this page Jun 3, 2016 · 6 revisions

Advanced Mode can be enabled from the Settings tab in uBlock's dashboard by checking the "I am an advanced user" item.

Enable at your own risk.

Please Read the Wiki

Before enabling Advanced Mode, please read all the documentation. This is important.

If you use advanced features without fully understanding them, uBlock probably will behave in ways unexpected to you.

If you think the wiki needs more work, you are more than welcome to contribute. Look for the gray Edit button on any wiki page — here is what it looks like: Edit button

If you do not see this button, you can suggest your edit in the issue tracker instead.

Differences

Dynamic filtering

Dynamic filtering (quick guide) is available only in Advanced Mode.

Novice users could easily mess up uBlock's filtering with dynamic filtering, so it is not available by default.

On the other hand, if you are familiar with RequestPolicy, then you should have no problem dealing with dynamic filtering.

Important note: The dynamic filtering engine is completely turned off when you uncheck the setting "I am an advanced user". Your dynamic filtering rules are kept intact, in case you re-enable Advanced Mode at a later time.

Ability to filter behind-the-scene network requests

See "Behind-the-scene network requests".
