In Croissant datasets, various elements need to be connected to each other. IDs may be specified as short strings, but they are interpreted as IRIs. The "base" IRI is either the URL of the document (when accessed on the Web), or is specified explicitly in the context, via the `@base` property (see [JSON-LD specification](https://www.w3.org/TR/json-ld11/#base-iri)).
