💻Engaging in the Project

🔶Prerequisites

To run the project locally on your sysmtem , the following softwares must be installed .

  • Npm 8.x
  • Node 16.x

You can check your node and npm versions by typing the mentioned commands in the terminal

node -v
npm -v

🔶Project Initialization

  1. Fork this repository which will create a copy of this project in your GitHub account.

  2. Clone the forked repository. Steps to clone :-

    • On your forked repository page, click on the "Code" button and copy the repository's URL.

    • Use the git clone command followed by the repository URL to clone the repository to your local machine.

      git clone https://github.com/<your_username>/BSoC-Website.git
    • Open your terminal, navigate to the desired directory.

       cd BSoC-Website
  3. Create a new branch by switching to the cloned repository's directory in your terminal.

     git checkout -b <branch-name>
  4. Make the desired changes and commit.

      git status 
      git add
      git commit -m "Your commit message"
  5. Sync your forked repository with the original repository.

       git remote add upstream <original-repo-url>
       git fetch upstream
       git merge upstream/main
       git push origin <branch-name>
  6. Push changes to your forked repository from your local branch on GitHub.

       git push origin <branch-name>
  7. Create a pull request. Steps to create a PR :-

    • Visit your forked repository on GitHub and switch to the branch you just pushed.
    • Click on the "New pull request" button which will take you to the "Comparing changes" page.
    • Select the original repository and the branch you want to merge into.
    • Provide a clear title and description for your pull request .
