This is done in a handful of projects but it's more useful in general. The compareByteString function wasn't used anywhere apart from the compareFiles function so has been removed.
While not breaking the old functions, there are now byVer versions which also take a FortranVersion.

Similar to camfort/fortran-src#294, couple of patches I hadn't upstreamed, one relying on the change in that PR.
Other one improves the diffing, and two commits add utility functions for getting and printing filepaths from SrcSpans.
