Yarrow
======

Finally, a tidy documentation tool for PHP projects.

Yarrow shreds your PHP code files and converts their structure into user
friendly API documentation.

Yarrow is a fully object oriented library written in idiomatic PHP. You can
easily extend it to produce your own custom documentation tools.

Install
-------

The recommended method of installing Yarrow is through the official PEAR
channel:

  $ pear channel-discover yo.yarrowdoc.org
  $ pear install yarrow/Yarrow

**Note: before the 0.1.0 release, all Yarrow releases in the PEAR channel are
considered 'alpha', which in PEAR parlance means 'unstable'. So the above
command will not work as expected. You'll need to manually specify the entire
version file in the command, or the stability identifier like:**

  $ pear install yarrow/Yarrow-0.0.5
  $ pear install yarrow/Yarrow-alpha

Depending on how PEAR is set up on your local system, you may need to use sudo.

If you download the code manually, you need to place the Yarrow folder
somewhere on your PHP include path and add the yarrow.php file to your bin
path, changing its permissions so that it is executable.

Usage
-----

Once Yarrow is installed, run the cli tool with the help flag to get started:

  $ yarrow -h

Feedback and Bug Reports
------------------------

Is Yarrow useful to you? Found a bug? Missing something essential? The best
way to provide feedback and contributions is through the GitHub Issue tracker.

At this early stage, we are very much interested in edge-cases and weirdness
you may encounter with legacy PHP source files. If you have a particular file
or doc comment that seems to be breaking things, please let us know.

Roadmap
-------

Yarrow is currently in a very tentative and fragile state, but the core parts
of the architecture are doing enough to generate .html output from PHP source.

What we have in mind for the first minor release is currently uncertain, but
it will largely involve development of the CodeParser and ObjectModel
components, in order to accurately represent a PHP codebase.

The docblock parsing machinery also needs a huge amount of work.

Once these parts are working to a satisfactory standard, we will be well on
the way to achieving a never-before-seen level of quality for API
documentation in the PHP community, which is the overall goal of this project.
