About Revue Starlight
Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight (Lit. Girls☆Opera Revue Starlight) is a new project of live entertainment media mix produced by Bushiroad and Nelke Planning. It aims to link "Anime" and "Musical" together. It was announced in Bushiroad's 10th Anniversary last April 30th, 2017.
This is a work based on the musical crossing together with the manga and anime media, making it a 2.5D Musical. It is 2.5D for the cast of the musical and the animation will be the same.
As it is a media mix development project, the website opened in June of 2017, preceding the first wave of the theater musicals called "Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The Live- #1" in September 2017. A rerun of the same content was done in January of 2018 called "Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The Live- #1 REVIVAL". Revue Starlight is a theater musical that has two parts. Part A - the theater and musical part, and Part B - the Live Performance part, composed of songs being performed one after another, like a normal live performance. Revue Starlight's very first Live Concert will be held on June 23rd, 2018 titled "Starry Sky".
As for media, they have monthly live broadcasts that started from November 2017 titled "Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Seisho Music Academy Broadcasting Station". On April 9th, 2018 the TV Anime's radio will also be broadcasted on Hibiki Radio Station. It will be hosted by Koyama Momoyo and Satou Hinata.
For manga, the franchise currently has 3 on-going manga. Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Overture, Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight The Show Must Go On and 4-Koma Starlight.
The TV Anime is slated to air on Summer 2018. "Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The Live- #1 Revival" will be released on Blu-ray on June 27th, 2018. The musical's "-The Live- #2" is going to be on October 2018.
[Story]
The franchise centers on "Starlight" — the song and dance revue troupe loved throughout the world. Karen and Hikari make a promise with each other when they're young that one day they'll stand on that stage together. Time passes, and now the girls are 16 years old. Karen is very enthusiastic about the lessons she takes every day, holding her promise close to her heart. Hikari has transferred schools and is now away from Karen. But the cogs of fate turn, and the two are destined to meet again. The girls and other "Stage Girls" will compete in a mysterious audition process to gain acceptance into the revue. -- ANN
