nr1-entity-report

Simple tool for extracting a report of all New Relic monitored entities available to a user based on his user key. Currently supports the following Nerdgraph domains:

  • APM
  • BROWSER
  • INFRA
  • MOBILE
  • SYNTH
  • DASHBOARD

Getting started

  1. Clone the repository
  2. CD into the repository directory
  3. Create a Python 3 virtual environment, install dependencies, and activate it.
virtualenv ./venv
. ./venv/bin/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt
  1. Set the USER_API_KEY environment variable
export USER_API_KEY=A_NEW_RELIC_USER_API_KEY
  1. There are a number of suppported domains. To test let's run it with the INFRA domain.
python nr1-entity-report.py INFRA

You should see a nice summary of host counts broken down by account like so:

Running with user key: NRAK-MP8O***********************
###### Report Summary ##########

  1. Explore and analyze the output file nr1-entity-report.csv

NOTE: This file will vary greatly as it pulls together all tags associated with the entities in a given set of accounts.

here is a sample field list from an INFRA summary (pulled using the NR1 user [email protected])...

  1. Take a look at the file nr1-entity-report.nerdgraph. This shows a static nerdgraph query you can run in the NR1 UI if you wish to explore.
