Sieges are a mechanic in Movecraft where by controlling a selected region (the "siege box" or "siege cap") by having a ship piloted inside it for a given period of time, players may take over and become owner of another selected WorldGuard region. Sieges have their own config file in which almost all features of sieges can be configured.

Players with permission to initiate sieges may do so by typing /siege begin while standing in the capture region and piloting a craft that is able to siege that region for a configurable cost. Sieges may only be initiated during the designated time specified in the configuration file, which can be checked using /siege info . Once a siege is initiated, all players will receive a server message as well as an audio notification of the siege that is about to begin.

After a brief delay, the siege will begin. The objective of the attackers is to hold the siege box for the given time, and the objective of the defenders is to sink the attackers attempting to take the siege box. The player that ran the /siege begin command becomes the siege leader, and it is their ship that determines whether the siege succeeds or fails.

At the end of the siege duration, if the siege leader still controls a ship in the box, the siege succeeds. Ownership of the region will be transferred to the siege leader, who may then use it as a normal WorldGuard region. If the siege leader is not in the siege box at any point throughout the final configurable time period, the siege will fail and nothing will happen.
