Combined PDF generation takes long and generates a very big pdf #67

Since we are using mkdocs for documenting our software and generating a pdf out of that, we noticed that is takes very long for generating the combined PDF.

The final PDF is currently 333 Pages long and could grow even more. Is there any customization that can be done to reduce the time it takes to create the PDF (and also the usage of the memory?)

Also the combined PDF is very large (around 9MB), but there is only mostly text involved. Could we reduce the size by changing the resolution or the compression?
