[Feature Request] : Elaborate on metadata and whats the use

the substrate inner workings on metadata were difficult to understand. maybe a simplified version in wiki will be helpful?

How much detail are you thinking? Is it the purpose of metadata or merely the formation of it that you find confusing?

The purpose of metadata being accessible like this allows for an application to easily gather the context of a specific runtime or pallet, types, keep track of versioning etc. All of this is set programmatically and then retrievable via RPC.
