Issue w3c/did-core#151 was created a while ago in DID Core to consider mentioning of the E.U.'s eIDAS framework. While in DID Core we probably don't want to go into details about eIDAS specifically, it would be interesting to add technical details about this topic to the "Implementation Guide" document.

Possible points to address:

  • How is the DID-eIDAS bridge implemented?
  • How are DIDs and VCs used to achieve different LoAs?
  • How would a DID-FIDO bridge work?

E.g. see the webinar at https://ssimeetup.org/introducing-ssi-eidas-legal-report-ignacio-alamillo-webinar-55/ and additional resources at https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/collection/ssi-eidas-bridge.

This is one of four inter-related issues: w3c/did-core#390, w3c/did-core#391, w3c/did-use-cases#102, #2 (this one)

@nalamillo would you be interested in adding a section to this "Implementation Guide" document, based on your experience with the DID-eIDAS bridge?

Since so far there has been no interest in addressing this issue, and we already have some eIDAS-related content in both DID Core and the DID Use Cases document, we should probably close this soon.

I still think it would have been nice to get some content for the Implementation Guide on how e.g. the eIDAS bridge is implemented to connect DIDs to legally enabled identity...
