Error message:
Fatal error: $CFG->dataroot is not writable, admin has to fix directory permissions! Exiting.

Currently the directory owner and permissions:

drwxr-xr-x 2 root     root     4096 Feb 14 21:40 ./www/moodledata

It needs to be www-data.
