Mouseover pictures on Instagram gives me:
"Server error 401 undefined URL"

Mouseover pictures under "photos" on Facebook:
"The "q" rule did not produce any URL"

Environment

  • Browser: Firefox 106.0.5
  • MPIV Version: 1.2.28

Please add an example URL because it works for me on a couple of random pics.

I guess they've changed something in their API server for anonymous users...
@darkred, could you investigate this?

I think I have found out the reason.
I have also installed the Firefox Addon "Facebook Container".
After deactivating "Facebook Container" and a reload of Instagram and Facebook sites it works.

So there seems to be a conflict between Firefox Addon "Facebook Container" and mpiv

(sorry for the late reply but I've having some issues)

@TonyTough I don't think that "Facebook Container" is the cause of this (I have it installed too).

@tophf I tested the script with fresh Firefox/Chrome profile and only latest beta TM and VM:
WIth Instagram the script works ok (having login or not).
But, in Facebook (having login or not), in the given example gallery URL, for only the 4 first images (all rest work ok) in the gallery the built-in rule results in, respectively:

(Firefox)

Referrer Policy: Ignoring the less restricted referrer policy “origin-when-cross-origin” for the cross-site request: <URL>

(Chrome)

Cross-Origin Read Blocking (CORB) blocked cross-origin response <URL> with MIME type text/html.
