Template description

Provide a template for writing an effective contributing guide that can scale over time.

Benefits

This is a minimum viable docset for any new open source project. We should research best practices and provide guidance.

Use cases

This document is important for ensuring that communities are healthy and welcoming.

Additional information

We're currently in the process of creating our own Code of Conduct. We'll take lessons learned from that project and apply them toward this template.

I've got a draft PR in that is open for community review: #246

A few things I could still do:

  • Create Code of Conduct training (deep dive)
  • Tech debt for our actual CoC: I added a paragraph to the opening statement and some additional items to the unacceptable behavior. I'll need to change that in our real CoC too.
  • Tech debt: Also need to change our Community Moderators doc to CoC Response Guide and make minor edits.
