[The Mahavastu] is a fascinating text. It’s one of the few Mahasanghika texts in existence. It is a large compilation of texts, which readily pulls from anything from the early suttas and Vinaya, to verses, to Jatakas, to Mahayana sutras, all loosely arranged to tell the life of the Buddha, and included in the Vinaya.

[A digitalised version] needs alot of proofreading [before it can be published on SC] … it would involve reading the text side by side with the scanned pages on archive.org and making corrections. It’s published in three volumes, so it’s a large text.

This task was taken on by a volunteer who got through a significant chunk of the work, but had to stop work on it due to other commitments.

There is a digitalized proofread version of English translation of Mahavastu in Wisdom Library website, and I think it can be upload to SC website:

Well spotted, thank you! I have checked some of the text and it does indeed appear to have been well proofed. I'll see if we can adopt it for SC.
