remove unused directories (on filesystem/storage)

when dealing with many duplicates, the system will create way too many folders, that are thereafter empty (can be avoided with for example 2char uuid4 or flat generate filename methods). the same problem occurs when deleting a file: an orphaned directory might still exist.

maybe create a management command, to clean up.
