I don't have much experience but I'm looking to move into dev work and this project would definitely be a great step in that direction.

Truthfully, I really don't have the time to contribute to this project, but there are likely others who would be interested in mentoring or helping make this happen. I suggest joining the reddit r/bioinformatics slack group, and we can see if any of the original contributors would be willing to take on that role.
