I am a bit confused about the way acmart.cls is found. The extension comes with acmart.cls (and other LaTeX stuff), but according to the log file from rendering, LaTeX is using acmart.cls from my TeX distribution:
(./test.tex
LaTeX2e <2022-11-01> patch level 1
L3 programming layer <2023-02-22> (/usr/local/texlive/2023/texmf-dist/tex/latex/acmart/acmart.cls
Document Class: acmart 2022/10/24 v1.88 Typesetting articles for the Association for Computing Machinery
What is the idea of shipping the cls file with the extension then?

I intended for it to find the shipped version of acmart.cls, but that's pretty good evidence that we're failing to find it, in which case this is just a dumb bug on my part!
With that said, I won't have time for at least a couple of months to fix this properly. I'd be happy to take PRs in the meantime
