Saved groups and tabs are gone

By pure accident opened another instance of the Firefox browser resulting in the open tabs. I didn't notice that another copy of firefox was launched and exit the system. Today I noticed all my groups are gone and only this extra instance of firefox saved. There no hidden tabs for me, only this extra tab have been saved. Any fix? Or how do I restore saved groups?

Sorry for being so late with this, and it's no doubt too late. Maybe this will help someone else.

It seems only the last window is opened sometimes.

I've had this happen a few times and finally figured out something that works for me:

1. Go into history and open last window. That re-opened window should have the old tabs in it.
2. Drag the single tab from the "new" window to the one with the old tabs. That should close the first window and all will be okay.
