Vector map builder showing wrong lat/lon of the origin point of a custom map #5169
-
ContextWe are using the following mapping tool (LIO-SAM-ROS2-PIXKIT) to obtain our custom .pcd file. To create a new Lanelet2 map we are using the following Lanelet2 map builder tool: vector map builder. Set MGRSThe MGRS is set from Lat/Lon of the origin point: Move based on local pointWhen using the option "View -> Move to Specified Coordinates", the point (x=0,y=0) represents the lat/lot 39.74990751922,-9 ; very different from the origin lat/lon. (View image bellow) Move based on lat/lonMoving based on the lat/lon goes to a point very far-off the mapped map: QuestionHow can we link the origin point lat/lon to the local point to (x=0,y=0)? Or this is a bug in the vector map builder tool? |

Hi @pedralmeida22. From the screenshots, it appears to be an expected behavior. First, the origin available for MGRS map projection is limited to those defined as MGRS 100km-grid. (For more information about MGRS, see here) The TransverseMercator map projection is more suitable for your use. (See the links below for more information) |

Hi @pedralmeida22.
From the screenshots, it appears to be an expected behavior.
First, the origin available for MGRS map projection is limited to those defined as MGRS 100km-grid. (For more information about MGRS, see here)
Also, the “Set MGRS from Lat/Lon” modal shows the MGRS grid containing the given latitude and longitude.
The TransverseMercator map projection is more suitable for your use. (See the links below for more information)
