From T19-GDC ER Critical Feedback:

Better support for paging and filtering when servers offer large amount of collections

We are working on defining exactly this in OGC API - Common - Part 2 as separate optional requirement classes.

This is now called Searchable Collections, and we plan to extend this with more capabilities, in line as much as possible with OGC API - Records. See related issues opengeospatial/ogcapi-common#314 and opengeospatial/ogcapi-records#300 .

We also plan a Common - Part 2 Hierarchical Collections requirement class which provides an alternative way to drill down large number of collections (see opengeospatial/ogcapi-common#11 and opengeospatial/ogcapi-common#298).
