Recorded file cannot be uploaded and saved when the quiz timing expires

I set the quiz timing as:

There is a grace period when open attempts can be submitted, but no more questions answered
or
Open attempts are submitted automatically

Then all recorded audios/videos can not be uploaded and saved. When grading the attempts, it shows "no recordings".

But it is no way to set quiz timing as "Attempts must be submitted before time expires, or they are not counted", which is a disaster for some students who forget to submit.

There is no logical reason I can think of, which could cause that quiz setting to affect whether and how this question type works. Are you sure you have diagnosed the problem correctly?

This report does not have enough information to investigate the problem. Please could you provide more specific details about how to trigger the problem? (The advice at https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Tracker_introduction#Reporting_an_issue might help.)

@timhunt Thank you for your reply. You can have an experiment yourself. Add a quiz activity with only one record audio question, and set the quiz timing as described above, then record an audio, and DON'T manually submit the attempt, just wait for Moodle to automatically submit the attempt. You will see that the recorded audio has not been uploaded!

Sorry, no. I still have not had time to work out what is going on here. The question type is working reliably for us (but then we mostly use quizzes without a time limit.) More information about the exact sequence of events when this bug happens for you would still be helpful. (For example, the information that is displayed in the Network tab of web browser Developer tools.)

We have now experimented with this, and everything works for us. Some notes from our testing:

• Previewing a timed Quiz design (Deferred Feedback or Immediate Feedback) with a RAV question and set to auto-submit: submits the recording fine.
• Previewing a timed Quiz design (Deferred Feedback) with a RAV question and a two-minute grace period: submits the recording fine.

Unless you can tell us how to reproduce this issue, we will just have to close it.

@timhunt Sorry for reply so late. You can reproduce the issue this way: put the RAV question at last, and answer the question in the last 1-2 seconds before the quiz expiring time.
