Microsoft PowerToys version

0.68.1; 0.68

Installation method

GitHub, Microsoft Store

Running as admin

Yes

Area(s) with issue?

Quick Accent

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Press any key that Quick Accent uses + Quick Accent activation key (arrows, space). This should work as expected.
  3. Repeat step 2. This brings up the Quick Accent bar, but with characters that are supposed to show up when pressing the key on the right of the key that you pressed in step 2.
  4. No matter what key you activate Quick Accent in Chrome with, it will just cycle through the entire keyboard (including keys that don't activate Quick Accent e.g. Enter)

Notes: You can use Quick Accent in other apps without any problems, and the keyboard cycle in Chrome doesn't reset until you restart Chrome. This also effects Edge, but I can not reproduce this bug in Brave.

✔️ Expected Behavior

Pressing a Quick Accent supported key + the Quick Accent activation key should bring up the Quick Accent bar with characters related to the key pressed.

❌ Actual Behavior

In Chrome (and Edge) it works the first time, but after that it cycles through the keyboard, without the user being able to choose which characters they want to display.

Other Software

Google Chrome Canary 113.0.5672.0; Google Chrome 111.0.5563.111; Microsoft Edge

I did some testing and turns out this is NOT a PowerToys problem, all apps have the same issue with Chrome on my computer.

Hi @pascal-nil, it just went away after some time. I didn't find any solution yet, but it came back a while ago for me too, so I might investigate a bit more, I'll let you know if I find anything.
