Hide Applications from PowerToys Run search suggestions #24834
Comments
Hi @Nerxxy, thanks for reaching out and presenting the idea. In the mean time, you could use PowerToys Run "Results order tunning" option as a workaround. This option would prioritize selected items, i.e. your app will be the top result after selecting it a few times. Is this helpful for your use case? /needinfo? |
/dup #16527 Note: Different approach to the same end result |
Hi! We've identified this issue as a duplicate of another one that already exists on this Issue Tracker. This specific instance is being closed in favor of tracking the concern over on the referenced thread. Thanks for your report! |
I can see the similarities, although that feature is to only scan certain folders, where as mine is to hide certain apps, to me as a user it would be more intuitive to just hide results instead of excluding and including folders especially if the end user doesnt know where some apps are installed, yes there is the "view in folder" option given from PT Run, but say if someone has a lot of system apps and decides to exclude the WindowsApps folder so they dont get all the useless windows apps such as cortana, they wont be able to get the other apps show that are installed via windows store such as modern flyouts or eartrumpet? They would have to go back to find those programs and then include their respective folder. As to the workaround u mentioned for my feature, i have now turned it on and will see if it helps any. Thanks for ur reply. |
Description of the new feature / enhancement
In power toys settings I would like the ability to search and hide applications from the suggestions box as well as have a button to hide suggestions from the pt run box directly - images for reference
Scenario when this would be used?
Some system apps (like cortana) nobody uses and if your like me and have Glorious Core and use "core" to search for it or sometimes "cor" to be a little more efficient cortana is the top suggestion, and I never use cortana so theres no point for it being there in my case.
