Issue submitter TODO list

  • I've searched for an already existing issues here

Describe the feature you're interested in

Hi,
i'm wondering if it's possible at lower costs to have the possibility to sort the Topics by "number of messages" in addition to other sort available.
Moreover, having the possibility to visualize an average size per partition (sortable) would be very useful too.
Thanks

Hi,
#450 (comment)
the same applies to the average size per partition. However, you can get this information from running topic analysis.

Hi @Haarolean thanks for quick reply.
Sorry if i not understand, but topic statistics is not for a specific topic ?
The idea is to be able to sort the topics table even if the number is approximate.
Approximation is already the case on the topics table and i don't think it bothers anyone.
Topic Statistics is here to have consistent data on a specific topic

I suggest we revisit this decision since it's a popular question. We didn't make the column sortable with a purpose as the values aren't fair (e.g. due to topic compaction).

Yes, I understand.
However, the value exists and it is useful to have this approximation in the topic list view.
Perhaps making the approximation information more explicit can help or not showing the number of messages on a compact topic.
From my point of view, this is useful information to have, and sorting it would be a visual advantage to find at a glance the topics with the most messages.

It's also interesting to have and sort information on the average size of partition per topic, as this can tell us if a topic is undersized in partition compared to another.
