m.2 port for LTE modem disabled on Intel Aero #3

It seems that the m.2 USB port on the Intel Aero is disabled (using the most recent BIOS and OS image).
Any modem inserted does not get recognized on the USB bus.
Can someone clarify on how to enable it?

It's disabled on bios, there's not much we can do on it here for now. I've read the discussion you pointed out and I am checking on a workaround or an updated bios.

Any new info on this? Is there anything that can be done outside of intel or is the BIOS issue something that can basically only be done by Intel?
