Notifications for attendees

As we have recently introduced sending the ICS with the invitation, we should also send a notification/confirmation when a user registers for an event that also includes the ICS (You have been registered for event...).

A user clicks on Participate or is set to Participate and then receives this notification directly?

As clarification, I would prefer if the "notification" is email always to deliver the attached ICS file into the inbox from which a user can easily add it to their personal calendar.
