Textobject selection doesn't expand from cursor position when it's on a bracket

Reproduction Steps

I tried this:

1. move cursor exactly on an open/closing bracket
2. 3ma( 3mi( or other similar commands

I expected this to happen: The selection expand out from cursor position to include the amount of bracket specified

Instead, this happened: The selection expanded on the opposite direction but didn't expand on the current cursor position side
