martomac.py littered with unsed code

I tried a lot of approaches when developing martomac.py, many of which didn't work out for one reason or another.

I need to take some time (in short supply, unfortunately) and weed those out of there.

They aren't a problem in the execution sense, but they sure do make the source code more difficult to scout around and comprehend.
