use google analytics as KPI target ?

was reading about google measurement protocol at https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/protocol/v1/?hl=en and started wondering if we could use it as a lighweight KPI engine ?

Idea would be to start doing a lot of the KPI integration without even having to host a KPI engine/UI.
