  2. mention someone

the display name is printed without an actual mention

I just discovered the same issue when chatting with friends. The issue is still present in the current version.

What is irritating is that If I mention someone with @ in a reply until I actually send the message the name mentioned is shown as a "pill", but as soon as you send it's sent as normal text. The desktop client is not affected by the same problem.
I don't see how this can not be a bug.

couple of my engineers still see this in their android element app. The @ does form a correct pill for my android phone, but another engineer demonstrated it never acknowledges the username as a pill for them.
