We do have a Plugins reference page, but no explanation page exists for Plugins.

It would be great to have a dedicated explanation page for Plugins.

IMO we should have some sort of high level introduction to plugins - like this https://snapcraft.io/docs/snapcraft-plugins (which I now realize isn't indexed in the diataxis structure either).
