Here we are concerned with cases where objects _transfer_ between controllers: we have to track controllers may have affected each object.

A word seems to be missing in "we have to track controllers may have affected each object"

Also several meanings possible (just looking at sentence now, not checking the context in which it appears). E.g.
"for each object, we must track the identifies of all controllers might have affected it in the past"
"for each object, we must track the identifies of all controllers might affect it in the future"
"for each object, we must keep track of the states of all the controllers who ..."
"for each controller, we have to keep track of all the objects it might have affected in the past"
etc.
