Some datasets downloaded as shapefiles from the webpage map public data search tool do not work properly, but others are fine. The dataset of "Old Dad - Amy" should contain points, lines and polygons, bu the only shapefile to plot correctly is the lines. The points and polygons have attribute tables but will not plot, when zoom to layer is chosen the view zooms outs to maximum. Maybe there are errors in the coordinates of this dataset?

Another dataset that behaved similarly is "Red Pass Range - Redpass". The downloaded shapefiles have points and lines, but the line shapefile will plot on the map.

I just pulled the data from your Old Dad dataset, and it looks like the points all have incorrect coordinates:

Do you know how this project was populated? If it was uploaded via Shapefile, do you have the original shapefile so that I can test with it?

Thanks,

Jason

Did you change something? I just re-downloaded both of these and now they work in ARCGIS

No, I didn't change anything. They don't seem to work in QGIS.

Are you plotting them using WGS84?
The version I downloaded earlier had a few points with impossible latitudes os 1600 degrees. I can only bring it into ARCGIS without a coordinate system. If I have a coordinate system it won't show up, or just the points with realistic coordinates will show up. These points' locations are corrupted somehow? The Red Pass Range file was made by Doug only using Strabo App jin October of 2021. the other file (Old Dad was made in 2018(?) using the straboApp

The Red Pass Range file seems to work fine for me:

The Old Dad Amy file has lots of points with impossible coordinates. This project was uploaded more than four years ago, so I fear that it might have been corrupted due to a past bug:

But there is missing data. The Red Pass Range on hte search window says it has 183 spots but when I brought it in this afternoon it has 139 spots. This morning the download had 150 spots. There should be spots with the names RP-3 Sample or Rp-5 but these don't appear this afternoon, they had very wrong coordinates before.

I downloaded a few other older data sets that had been uploaded from shapefiles and they seem fine. I'll try some older straboApp file

The Red Pass Range dataset has 142 spots. This is what it says on the search page:

And the download seems to agree:
