DNS IPv4 equal quads reachability and responsiveness

IPv4 equal-quad addresses are particularly easily memorable and are used for some public DNS resolvers: widely known and used services are 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, and 9.9.9.9 are widely known and used.

To locate other such DNS services, we run measurements to all equal-quad IPv4 addresses that are in public IPv4 unicast space. We run ping measurements to test basic reachability, and send a DNS query to attempt to resolve the A record for the name ping.ripe.net. These measurements are extremely low-rate, running only once every 14 days, and from only 250 probes. They have been running since April 2018; an initial look at these addresses from then is available in this gist.
