Describe the solution you'd like

Add IP2Location.io API into this project.

Our service provided 500 queries per day for keyless query, or 30000 queries per month if you sign up our free plan. You can read more on the result returned via our documentation.

Just for context:

IPinfo vs IP2Location

  • IPinfo.io provides 1,000 requests per day without a token.
  • IPinfo provides 50,000 requests per month with a free tier token.
  • Universal access to a globally distributed load-balancing network regardless of access tier.
  • Higher accuracy driven by active measurement based IP geolocation methods. (Blog post)

In addition to offering generous no-tier and free-tier access, we also have incredible uptime hours. If access or limits to our service is an issue, we are happy to look into it. Thanks.

@ip2location We have well over ten thousand people that use this web client. The latest stable release is on Linux and major hosting providers. I've pinned this feature request to increase visibility.

If you'd like to submit a pull request to add this API into the project, I will post a new hotfix release and let everyone know that IP2Location.io has been added into the project. It can go straight into the master branch. I will review your PR within 2 weeks.

@abdullahdevrel Thanks for reaching out about IPInfo. If our users report any access or limits with the service we will follow up. We currently have this set as the default API for our project. We just want to provide users with anther option.

@ip2location Just for clarification, I will allow a select option to be added to the web interface, where users can select their IP Info API. This can be placed in Settings -> General which is the highest visibility location. We select our defaults based on what is best for the project. This will allow gathering of user feedback to make an informed decision.

This is also better than a fallback. It's going to send a lot more traffic to your website and introduce more users to your paid options. We understand that you are providing a free API service, that enhances the functionality of our web client. This infrastructure costs money to run. We're willing to help you out a little bit, as long as we don't get complaints from users.
