Welcome to OL7, Cohort A! This issue will be used to track your project and progress during the program. Please use this checklist over the next few weeks as you start Open Leadership Training 🎉.

Before Week 1 (Jan 29): Your first mentorship call

  • Complete the OLF self-assessment (online, printable). If you're a group, each teammate should complete this assessment individually. This is here to help you set your own personal goals during the program. No need to share your results, but be ready to share your thoughts with your mentor.
  • Make sure you know when and how you'll be meeting with your mentor.

Before Week 2 (Feb 5): First Cohort Call (Open by Design)

Before Week 3 (Feb 12): Mentorship call

  • Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their vision statement.
  • Complete your Open Canvas (instructions, canvas). Comment on this issue with a link to your canvas.
  • Start your Roadmap. Comment on this issue with your draft Roadmap.

Before Week 4 (Feb 19): Cohort Call (Build for Understanding)

  • Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their open canvas.
  • Pick an open license for the work you're doing during the program.
  • Use your canvas to start writing a README, or landing page, for your project. Link to your README in a comment on this issue.

Week 5 and more

This issue is here to help you keep track of work as you start Open Leaders. Please refer to the OL7 Syllabus for more detailed weekly notes and assignments past week 4.

Fantastic project. I like your open canvas; I just have one question: how do you plan to send books? Is it part of your project for instance to connect/exchange with the closest available resource?

Thanks a lot :) You got it!! Yes it is the part of the project to list closest donor/receiver so that they can exchange or donate.

This is a very interesting project. I am curious if you are targeting individual users or organizations(libraries, schools, etc)? If both, is the interaction the same?

Hi @klumb!! Yes I am targeting both it could be user or organization, schools, NGOs, yes interaction will almost be same. There could be little difference in interaction but not much I am trying to make it as simple as possible.

Hi @foretia, I have written the cohort A document. You can find that in the project vision area and my entry is the last one. if you're not able to find it then here you go 👍
Book Donation System/This platform will:

  • provide individuals/NGOs/Schools a platform where they will be able to request books from individuals/NGOs/Schools.
  • Allow anyone to register as donor/receiver so that books they have can be utilized properly.
  • Allow the user to see who is available to donate the books and how far they're from their place.
  • Allow users to create a club and donate books in bulk to particular NGOs or schools and get appreciations from this platform and many more.
I am working with different peoples on this and will soon be getting UI of this project live.

@foretia, I am focusing on hardcopy mainly as we know softcopy can be distributed easily but this project is based on the hard copy. Yes, if you have bought any softcopy of books and you want to distribute so that others also can read then you can list the book and others can request and read but they won't be able download. I hope you got it and if not do message me I will try my best to explain.
