Did the define in the first line before any header inclusions as stated in the wiki. If I add the debug define to the file it never goes beyond the
in the setup routine. In the setup routine I also call and it gives me the correct amount of mp3 files on SD As wanted in your other reply I start building a smallest possible test solution to narrow things down further. |

This comment I will ask about code specific issues: Your best bet at solving the problem is to create a minimal test sketch that demonstrates it. Remove bits (LCD), Remove complexity. And then post the complete sketch. Just doing this exercise often will uncover something in your code and at least provides a concise code for "US" to investigate. |

Your test with the Mp3ChipMH2024K16SS is interesting. Note that the chip replies with an error so it is listening, while before it would not acknowledge the command. I am getting concerned either we have another variant or you have a bad board. Which Nano Every do you have? Seems there were two, one with ATMega4809 and another with SAMD chip. Lets try another test. And of course, without Mp3ChipMH2024K16SS. |

I used the 5V pin for an analogue rotary control, the mp3 player and a 16x2 I2C LCD Screen from JoyIt with low brightness settings (around 5%) The specs from Leiterkartenpiraten says one should use the 5V supply and only add a 1k ohm on RX At the moment I use an orignal Arduino Every with an ATMega4809, after having troubles getting a "compatible" AZDelivery AZ-Nano V3-Board Atmega328 CH340 to talk with the 2.x IDE. But tomorrow my 1st package arrives with a few UNOs and Nanos with Atmel M328P, second package with a few DFPlayers from the arduino.cc store is due next week to have alternatives. You think switching the arduino board could help? For testing I removed everyting from the nano except the player For the test, I made it a bit more verbose in the serial outputs: When run as above I see that you don't get responses for setVolume and playFolderTrack but they work. When removing .reset() |

I think your last test sealed it, we have a different variant now that doesn't ACK some calls like it should. The above doesn't look too wrong, the extra returned version is weird but otherwise not bad. And then what we were seeing before... No ACKs or NACKs for the setVolume and playFolderTrack. This tells me we have another variant of chip that doesn't work the same as previous ones. If you try all the available calls that I expose, and give me a similar dumps, then I can put together a variant solution to handle no ACKs and NACKs for certain calls. Sigh. |

Yes, post here for now. I will collect it and create an issue to track it. NOTE: During sketch development, you really should be calling Reset as the first thing after Begin. There is an assumption that the Arduino and the MP3 module are powered on at the same time (as a final product they would be) and the MP3 module would be in a known state. When developing you often just upload a sketch and the MP3 Module is in an unknown state (like playing an advertisement or track), so it is a good practice until you finalize your sketch to call Reset to put it into a known state first thing. |

Here is a sketch that runs every API, it is setup with secondary hardware serial so depending on your Arduino, it may need to be switched to software serial. |

I asked about the upgrade as I have seen it mentioned but never found the actual instructions and firmware. Its like they are trying to hide it. While after the update more calls are acting normal, there seems to still be many calls that do not respond with ACK when they should. |

Using stated function stops the playback (or never can start it if nothing is running at the moment)
Regardless of feeding it a folder number from a variable or hardwiring it for testing
Uncommenting both getFolderTrackCount calls makes the rest work normal.
Using #define DfMiniMp3Debug Serial completely freezes all serial commication with the Arduino Serial Monitor
It's coupled with an Arduino Nano Every, IDE 2.1.0
