Hey there,
GitHub recently released a new format for citation files, and I was wondering if PkgTemplates.jl should take it into account.
Any thoughts?

thanks for the suggestion!

Would the proposal be to add a Citation plugin that let's you specify the required info and generates a CITATION.cff file?

Maybe we can modify the existing Citation plugin, although .bib and .cff are rather different

Note that GitHub has partial support for CITATION.bib (and CITATION.md) files.
They still show up when you click the Cite this repository button.
but rather than showing the inline APA/BibTeX test that can be copy pasted you just get the "View Citation file" button (as shown below)

IMO github screwed up by using cff. Nothing supports it.
Everything supports BibTeX. Presumably this is why GitHub shows bibtex output when displaying inline copy pastable.
Further, bibtex is useful cos you can list multiple things people might like to cite.
But I guess BibTex is harder to parse than cff since it basically can have full latex in it.

So like we could support creating a .cff, but i think it is low priorty
