NanoPC-T6: Install and boot from eMMC without SD-card

Firstly, Thank You for providing these images! I have been trying the official images but they seem outdated and without GPU-support.

The NanoPC-T6 offers installation via USB without any SD-card. Is this also possible with the images provided here?

If not, do I have to install it onto an SD-card, boot the NanoPC and 'copy' it onto the eMMC (sudo ubuntu-rockchip-install /dev/mmcblk0)?
Do I still need the SD-card afterwards (with some uBoot) or can it be removed permanently?

Ok, I figured it out:
Installation via USB (without any SD-card) seems not possible
There is no need for SD-card after 'copy' it onto the eMMC (sudo ubuntu-rockchip-install /dev/mmcblk0)
