trying to use this with sunshine x86_64 flatpak sunshine on linux mint 20.3 cinammon, i have put my ip in the config file and loaded sunshine, but when i try to connect, it says connecting for like 10 or more seconds and then says cant connect to server? sunshine doesnt output any logs about this so im not sure what the issue is.

Could be several issues. Make sure:

  • Your Wii U and PC are on the same network.
  • You have entered the correct IP in the configuration file.
  • Your PC's firewall is blocking the required ports for moonlight.
    Required ports TCP: 47984, 47989, 48010
    UDP: 47998-48000, 48002, 48010

i'm having the same error, though it says connecting for less than a second, and just says can't connect to server.

i've tried both same network, and remote network (the Moonlight Internet Streaming Tool says it should work perfectly fine, and i use the IP it displays in the success message) and yet nothing. both GFE and Sunshine. just instantly refuses to connect. i've tried several different networks for the Wii U to connect to. still nothing. my Wii U has no issue connecting to my PC through FTP on other apps though, or connecting to the internet in the Internet Browser. i've even tried downgrading to every version down to v1.2, and still, the same instant-error. "Can't connect to server" is all it says, pressing A does nothing but flash the "connecting" message before instantly throwing the same error. here's my config file (though i removed my ip, and GitHub doesn't support .conf files so i renamed it to Untitled.txt): moonlight.conf

i've spent hours and i saw one person had a very similar issue to me in the discord a year ago. they seem to have never resolved it though, so i wasn't able to learn anything from it.

my issue is exactly the same as HEYimHeroic, i've done everything Gary listed and it still doesn't work, any fixes?

Does it work with other moonlight clients?

Does your IP have a port specified? e.g. xxx.xxx.x.xxx:xxxxx? If it does, this may be the same issue as #57.
